The Federal Limbuwan State Council (FLSC), an agitating ethnic group in eastern Nepal Monday put forth a 9-point demand to the government including the establishment of an autonomous federal Limbuwan state based on the ethnicity before the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
The FLSC came up with the demands in a manifesto issued at the end of its second central extended meeting held in Ilam district that lasted for five days beginning October 25.
The Council has warned of fresh round of agitation if the demands are not fulfilled soon. However, it has said that the protest programmes will be such that it would not affect the general public much.
An all-out Proportional Representation system is its other key demand.
Alleging those in the helm of power of putting the CA polls at risk, the FLSC demanded a guarantee of the CA elections.
It has also demanded that its activist Rajkumar Angdembe, who was killed by police in Jhapa district on October 7, be declared a martyr and a proper investigate be launched into the incident.
Expressing concern over the hike in fuel prices, the FLSC also urged the government to rollback the decision.
